The quest for the self-actualizing organization

This is not a book about self-improvement, New Age, best practices or the management of culture. It does not solve existential problems or answer all of your questions. This book is a quest, a textual travel in ideas about organizing and self-actualization. People often feel that it is possible and right to both be an individual and part of a collective - yet it seems to rarely be realized in contemporary business organizations. There is often a dichotomy at work between the individual and the collective dimension in organizations. While not inquiring into the reasons of this, the book sets out to tell a story about the transcending of the seeming dichotomy. It does this through a collage of stories gathered from various authors: organization theorists, students, friends, exploring aspects of the encounter between the organizational and the spiritual domains.
