Product description
The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek houses a unique art collection, which covers a large field. It houses for example Northern Europe´s largest collection of ancient art from Egypt, Greece and Italy, besides a large modern collection mainly of Danish and French Art, among these important works from the Danish Golden Age and the French Impressionism.
The Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen and his English wife Ottilia founded the collection towards the end of the 19th century. The items were purchased with the proceeds from the noble art of brewing ale at his brewery Carlsberg. In this catalogue the editor Anne Marie Nielsen has selected 130 works from the collection within the museum, from the Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman up to French and Danish art.
